Temerloh is a municipality in central Pahang, Malaysia. Located about 130 kilometres (81 mi) from Kuala Lumpur along the Kuantan–Kuala Lumpur trunk road, Temerloh is the second largest urban area in Pahang after Kuantan, the state capital city. It is situated at the confluence of the Pahang and Semantan Rivers. Today, Temerloh usually refers to the territory under the administration of Temerloh Municipal Council which includes Mentakab, Lanchang, Kuala Krau and Kerdau.

An old town with some colonial buildings and shophouses, the town has prospered in recent years as a transport hub and new industrial centre. There have been many new commercial and industrial hubs built in Temerloh in recent years. Cutting travel time in half, the East Coast Expressway links the town to Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan and adds to the growth of Temerloh.

Kuala Sanggang is a historical area located in Temerloh, Pahang, Malaysia. It has a significant place in local history, especially in terms of its role during the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960), a period of insurgency and conflict between communist guerrillas and the British colonial government, and later the Malayan government.

The name “Sanggang” is often associated with the word sanggah, which in Malay refers to a shelter or a temporary structure, and it could be tied to the history of local settlements in the area.

One of the notable historical events related to Kuala Sanggang is the story of Imam Perang. Imam Perang is believed to have been a local figure during the period of the Japanese occupation and the Malayan Emergency. He was reportedly a leader who stood up against the occupying forces, and his contributions to the resistance efforts have been remembered by the community. The term “Imam” could also refer to his role as a spiritual or community leader.

The Kuala Sanggang area is also well known for its floodplains and the proximity to the Pahang River, which has been an essential part of the livelihoods of its residents, particularly in terms of fishing and agriculture.

The town and its people have endured and adapted through various challenges, from colonial conflicts to modern-day developments, and it retains cultural significance to this day
